Accepting the challenge, a group of enlightened Indian Muslims established in 1998 the Zakat Foundation of India. It is a non-profit/non-governmental organization registered with the Government of India and headquartered in New Delhi. It runs several well targeted projects to provide a whole lot of social services to the under privileged in India.
